The 43rd World Scout Conference recently concluded in Cairo, Egypt, with over two thousand scouts from 176 countries in attendance. The Qatari Scouts and Guides Association delegation was actively involved in various activities during the conference, led by HE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi. The Qatari delegation aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences with scout associations from different cultures while participating in events, meetings, and holding an exhibition on the history and activities of the Qatari scouting movement.

HE Al Nuaimi expressed that Qatar’s participation in the conference aimed to strengthen ties and coordinate positions, especially at the Arab level, on global scouting movement issues. The delegation also aimed to provide young people with experience in global forums to groom them as future leaders. The exhibition showcased Qatar’s scouting history and activities, highlighting the association’s long-standing presence since the 1950s, with ongoing activities at the school level, regular camps, and participation in various Arab and international events.

At the Arab level, Qatar has hosted several activities with Arab countries and plans to organize an Arab event in December. The Qatar delegation engaged in important meetings with officials from the Arab and Gulf Scout Movement, discussing future activities and camps, as well as the needs of Scout Associations in Arab and Islamic countries. The delegation also met with Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, among the delegations of the Islamic Scouts, to strengthen support for the Islamic and Arab Scout Movement.

HE Al Nuaimi commended Egypt for successfully organizing the conference activities and expressed happiness over Qatar winning membership in the World Scout Committee. This milestone is seen as an important addition to the Arab presence in the committee, allowing the conveyance of Arab Scout Movement’s thoughts to the world. The World Scout Conference serves as the General Assembly of the World Scouts, setting policies, regulations, electing the Board of Directors, auxiliary committees, and deciding on the host country for the next session.

Overall, the 43rd World Scout Conference in Cairo witnessed active participation from scouts worldwide, with the Qatari delegation playing a significant role in exchanging knowledge and experiences with other scout associations. Qatar’s involvement in the conference aimed to strengthen ties with other scouting movements, provide young leaders with global exposure, and showcase the rich history and activities of the Qatari scouting movement. The delegation’s engagement at the Arab level and meetings with officials from the Arab and Gulf Scout Movement signify Qatar’s commitment to supporting and advancing the scouting movement in the region.

The successful organization of the conference activities in Egypt and Qatar’s membership in the World Scout Committee highlight the country’s growing influence and contribution to the global scouting community. With plans to host an Arab event in the near future and ongoing participation in various scouting activities, Qatar is poised to further enhance its presence in the international scouting arena. The World Scout Conference serves as a platform for scouts worldwide to come together, set policies, and elect leadership, ensuring the continued growth and development of the scouting movement on a global scale.
