Qatar is set to host the 27th Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship from November 12 to 23 at the Qatar Handball Federation Hall in Al Duhail. This tournament will feature nine teams and also serve as a qualifying event for the 18th IHF Men’s Handball Club World Championship scheduled to take place in Egypt in October 2025. The winning team of the Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship will secure a qualification spot for the Club World Championship.

Al Rayyan, representing Qatar, will be looking to secure their second title at the tournament after winning their first crown in 2012. The opening match will see them face off against Bahrain’s Al Shabab on Tuesday at 7 pm. The Executive Director of the Asian Handball Championship, Faisal Al Otaibi, has confirmed that all preparations for the championship have been completed, with special arrangements made for fans expected to attend the event in large numbers.

The Qatar Handball Federation Secretary-General, Mohammed Jaber Al Mulla, expressed confidence in delivering a successful event. This will be the fifth time that Qatar hosts the competition, having previously hosted the 15th to 18th editions. The return of the tournament to Qatar comes after over eight years, with the last edition held in the country in 2016.

Khaleej Club will be entering the tournament as the defending champion, having secured their first title in the 2023 edition. Alongside Khaleej Club, four other participating clubs have previously claimed the championship. Al Duhail SC from Qatar has won the title twice, while Kazma SC from Kuwait clinched the title in the first two editions held in 1998 and 1999. The competition promises to be action-packed with top clubs from Asia competing for the prestigious title.

The tournament is expected to showcase exciting matches and high-quality handball. Fans can look forward to a thrilling competition as top clubs from the region battle it out for the title. As Qatar continues to establish itself as a hub for sporting events, the hosting of the Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship further cements its reputation as a premier destination for international sports tournaments.

With the successful completion of all preparations, the organisers are confident that the championship will be a resounding success. The tournament not only provides an opportunity for teams to compete at a high level but also offers a chance for players to showcase their skills on the international stage. As excitement builds ahead of the opening match, all eyes will be on Qatar as the country prepares to host another edition of the prestigious Asian Men’s Club League Handball Championship.
