Qatar recently hosted the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025, a significant event focused on combating corruption and promoting integrity. The event, organized by the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) in collaboration with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), brought together specialists and officials from GCC countries.

The IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 took place from Sunday to yesterday in Doha, marking the first time the program was held outside IACA’s venues. This development signifies a notable step in Gulf and international cooperation in the field of integrity and transparency. The event featured the participation of 16 national Qatari entities, including ACTA, the Public Prosecution, and the State Audit Bureau.

Enhancing Capacities to Combat Corruption

The primary objective of the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 was to enhance the capacities of participants by facilitating the exchange of knowledge on state-of-the-art international practices. Topics such as asset management and confiscation, artificial intelligence in public procurement, digital currencies, and integrity in sport were discussed, reflecting contemporary transformations in governance and the global fight against corruption.

According to ACTA, the event aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively combat corruption and promote integrity in their respective countries. The program’s focus on cutting-edge topics highlights the evolving nature of corruption and the need for innovative approaches to address it.

Regional Cooperation and Global Efforts

The timing of the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 is significant, as it precedes the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP11) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) by one month. Qatar is set to host CoSP11 this December, demonstrating its commitment to promoting integrity and transparency and consolidating its leading role in backing global efforts in the fight against corruption.

The event underscores the importance of regional cooperation in combating corruption. By bringing together officials and specialists from GCC countries, the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 fosters a collaborative environment that is essential for addressing the complex challenges posed by corruption.

Promoting Transparency and Integrity in Qatar

Qatar’s hosting of the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 highlights the country’s efforts to promote transparency and integrity. The event demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to combating corruption and its willingness to collaborate with international partners to achieve this goal. The participation of various Qatari entities in the event further emphasizes the country’s dedication to promoting a culture of transparency and accountability.

As Qatar prepares to host CoSP11, the outcomes of the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 are expected to contribute to the country’s efforts to promote integrity and transparency. The event’s focus on innovative approaches to combating corruption will likely inform Qatar’s strategies in this area, enabling the country to effectively address the challenges posed by corruption.

Looking ahead, the next steps in Qatar’s efforts to combat corruption will be closely watched. The outcomes of CoSP11 and the implementation of the knowledge and skills acquired during the IACA Regional Summer Academy-GCC 2025 will be crucial in determining the country’s progress in promoting transparency and integrity. According to observers, the success of these initiatives will depend on the continued collaboration between Qatari entities and international partners. As the country moves forward, its commitment to combating corruption and promoting integrity will remain a key aspect of its development.
