In a collaborative effort to address the ongoing humanitarian needs in Libya, the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have successfully implemented a comprehensive aid project that has significantly impacted the lives of many people in Libya. The project has provided critical support to more than 18,000 households, reaching approximately 100,000 individuals across various communities. The head of ICRC’s Delegation in Qatar, Basma Tabaja, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that it has been a cornerstone in their humanitarian efforts to support the people of Libya.

The project is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations come together with a shared vision of alleviating human suffering and building resilient communities. Aisha Al Kuwari, the head of the humanitarian aid department, expressed pride in the successful milestone of the project, emphasizing the shared commitment to alleviating human suffering and providing essential support to communities in need. The partnership aims to make significant strides in building resilience for the most vulnerable communities and continues to foster impactful collaborations that bring hope and resilience to those facing the greatest challenges.

In response to the devastating floods in the city of Derna, the project’s scope was swiftly adapted to enhance emergency response efforts. This intervention facilitated the delivery of food and essential household items to 6,499 households severely affected by the natural disaster. Furthermore, the initiative empowered 538 households to start or resume businesses with grants, fostering economic independence and resilience. The project also improved living conditions for 8,328 households with essential items and provided financial assistance to 82 families to enhance their economic resilience and rebuild lives disrupted by the consequences of conflict.

The project’s commitment to sustainable development and empowerment of communities in crisis highlights the importance of international cooperation in humanitarian efforts. The timely intervention in response to the floods in Derna showcases the flexibility and adaptability of the project to meet the evolving needs of the affected communities. By providing critical support and essential resources, the project has made a significant impact on the lives of individuals in Libya, demonstrating the power of collaborative efforts in addressing humanitarian needs.

As the collaboration between QFFD and ICRC continues to make a positive impact, it underscores the importance of partnerships in humanitarian aid and the shared commitment to alleviating human suffering. By focusing on building resilience, providing essential support, and fostering economic independence, the project has played a crucial role in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by communities in Libya. Through its dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need, the partnership between QFFD and ICRC serves as a shining example of effective humanitarian assistance and international cooperation.
