Hosts Qatar secured a spot in the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2025 by defeating Jordan 3-2 in Group J, finishing their Qualifiers campaign with a perfect record at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium. With wins over Singapore and Hong Kong, Qatar topped the group with nine points. Jordan, despite the loss, also advanced to the Finals as one of the best five second-placed teams.

The match between Qatar and Jordan was closely contested, with both teams tied on six points and Jordan only needing a draw to progress. Qatar took an early lead in the fifth minute through Mohamed Khaled Gouda. However, Jordan fought back and equalized in the 39th minute with a goal from Odeh Burhan Fakhoury. Qatar needed a victory to secure their spot and regained the lead in the 51st minute through Bassam Adel Eid’s goal. Captain Ibrahim Mohammadali extended the lead to 3-1 five minutes later, but an own goal from Eid in the 69th minute made the game tense for Qatar.

Despite the late scare, Qatar held on to their lead and secured the vital three points to finish as group winners. Hong Kong finished third in the group after a 2-0 victory over Singapore at Grand Hamad Stadium. The win capped off a successful Qualifiers campaign for Qatar, who displayed a strong performance throughout the tournament. With their spot in the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2025 secured, Qatar will now look ahead to the Finals with confidence as they aim to make a mark on the continental stage.

The victory over Jordan showcased Qatar’s resilience and determination to succeed in the face of tough competition. The team’s attacking prowess and defensive discipline were on full display as they overcame a spirited Jordan side. The win also highlighted Qatar’s ability to perform under pressure and come out on top in crucial matches. With a perfect record in the Qualifiers, Qatar have laid down a marker for the Finals, sending a strong message to their opponents in the tournament.

Qatar’s young talents, such as Mohamed Khaled Gouda, Bassam Adel Eid, and Ibrahim Mohammadali, shone in the match against Jordan, showcasing their potential to make an impact at the continental level. The team’s combination of skill, teamwork, and strategic play was key to their success in the Qualifiers. As they prepare for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2025, Qatar will aim to build on their impressive performances and continue their winning streak in the Finals. With a strong squad and a winning mentality, Qatar will be a team to watch out for in the upcoming tournament.
