Qatar Cup draw reveals thrilling matchups in basketball

The Qatar Basketball Federation recently held the draw ceremony for the Qatar Cup for the 2024-2025 season. This event took place at the association’s headquarters and was attended by various officials, including QBF General-Secretary Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, Assistant-Secretary Nasser Ajlan Al Kaabi, and Technical Expert Essam Lotfi. Dr. Khaled Al Qahtani, Chairman of the Media Committee, was also present, along with representatives from the nine clubs participating in the tournament. The Qatar Cup will be played on a knockout system from October 19 to 31, with the preliminary round featuring matches between Al Khor and Al Ahli, as well as Al Gharafa and Qatar SC on October 19 at the Al Gharafa Hall.

Al Rayyan will face Al Arabi, while Al Sadd will take on Al Wakrah on October 20 at the Al Rayyan Club Hall. The draw resulted in Al Shamal Club receiving a bye in the preliminary round, and they will meet the winner of the Al Khor and Al Ahli match on October 23 at the Al Rayyan Club Hall to determine the qualifiers for the quarter-finals. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 26 at the Al Gharafa Hall, with the winners advancing to the final on October 31 at 6:30 pm at the same venue. QBF General-Secretary Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament, highlighting the high level of competition and excitement that is expected from the participating teams.

Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari emphasized that all participating teams are eager to compete for the title, as the Qatar Cup is considered one of the most important tournaments at the beginning of the new season. This year, the tournament schedule has been condensed, and it will be played on a knockout system to align with the national team’s commitments as they prepare for the Asian qualifiers for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup. The QBF is looking forward to a tournament filled with intense competition and excitement, wishing all the teams the best of luck as they vie for the championship title. With the level of competitiveness and anticipation surrounding the Qatar Cup, fans can expect some thrilling basketball matches and memorable moments throughout the tournament.
