As the Minister of Municipality, H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, met with the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea, H E Song Miryung, there were discussions about potential cooperation between Qatar and Korea. This meeting took place during the World Health City Forum 2024, where both ministers were in attendance. The discussions revolved around various aspects of cooperation, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the two countries in the areas of agriculture, food security, and rural development.

Qatar and Korea have a long history of diplomatic relations, and this meeting between the two ministers further strengthens the ties between the two countries. Both ministers emphasized the importance of collaboration in the field of agriculture, as Qatar strives to achieve food security and sustainability. The Republic of Korea, known for its advanced agricultural technologies and practices, can offer valuable insights and support to Qatar in achieving its goals in agriculture and food production.

During the meeting, Minister H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah and Minister H E Song Miryung discussed potential areas of cooperation, including knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and joint research initiatives. Qatar has been investing heavily in agriculture and food production in recent years, with a particular focus on enhancing its capabilities and increasing self-sufficiency. Collaboration with countries like Korea, which have advanced agricultural practices, can greatly benefit Qatar in achieving its goals in these areas.

The discussions also touched upon the importance of rural development, as both countries recognize the significance of empowering rural communities and ensuring their well-being. By working together, Qatar and Korea can share best practices and innovative approaches to rural development, ultimately improving the quality of life for rural residents in both countries. This collaboration can also lead to the exchange of knowledge and expertise, benefiting both Qatar and Korea in their efforts to enhance rural development.

In addition to agriculture and rural development, the ministers also discussed potential collaborations in other areas, such as environmental sustainability and food safety. Qatar has been increasingly focused on promoting environmental sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint, and Korea’s experience in this area can prove valuable in Qatar’s sustainability efforts. Similarly, cooperation in food safety can help ensure that both countries meet international standards and regulations, enhancing the quality and safety of food products for consumers in Qatar and Korea.

Overall, the meeting between Minister H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah and Minister H E Song Miryung highlighted the strong and growing ties between Qatar and Korea, especially in the areas of agriculture, food security, and rural development. Both ministers expressed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. By leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise, Qatar and Korea can work together to achieve common goals and enhance their capabilities in key areas of mutual interest.
