Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina explore cooperation opportunities

Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H E Denis Becirovic, recently met with Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, in Sarajevo. The meeting focused on discussing bilateral cooperation and ways to enhance them, as well as developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly regarding efforts to end the ongoing war.

During the meeting, Chairman Denis Becirovic expressed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s appreciation for the State of Qatar’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening joint bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, tourism, and culture. Additionally, he commended Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, on her part, expressed gratitude to Bosnia and Herzegovina for its supportive positions of Qatar in international forums. The two officials discussed various topics of mutual interest and the ways to further enhance their cooperation during their meeting.

In a separate meeting in Sarajevo, Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater met with Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H E Dr. Sevlid Hortic. They discussed cooperation relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of human rights, as well as other common interests.

Dr. Sevlid Hortic expressed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s aspirations to strengthen joint bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including education and development. He also praised Qatar’s role and efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. During the meeting, Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater was presented with the flower of Srebrenica medal as a gesture of solidarity.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Meshal bin Ali Al Attiyah, attended both meetings, highlighting Qatar’s commitment to fostering mutually beneficial relationships with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The discussions during the meetings signify the positive and collaborative efforts between the two countries to further enhance their partnership and cooperation in various sectors.
