A new girls’ school is set to be constructed in Qalali, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). This project aims to address the increasing student population and provide a modern and sustainable learning environment. The Ministry of Works has designed the school, which includes two buildings with 44 classrooms and facilities for students with special needs. The construction plans have been handed over to the Ministry of Education for the tender and build phases.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Works collaborated on designing the school to accommodate the growing number of students and meet current educational standards. The school will be situated on a 12,007 square metre plot in Qalali, covering 13,003.6 square metres of construction. It will consist of two educational buildings, one for primary and one for secondary students, each with four floors and a total of 44 classrooms, including two for special needs students. The school is expected to accommodate approximately 1,320 students.

The facilities at the new school will be extensive, including science labs, computer labs, art rooms, and teachers’ rooms. An administrative building will house offices, a meeting room, and a gym meeting international standards. The design also incorporates sustainability and green building standards, with energy-saving policies in place to protect the environment. Accessibility for students and staff with disabilities is a priority, with ramps at all academic building entrances, elevators between floors, and restrooms meeting global standards.

The project has received praise from MP Khalid Buanaq, who highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Works, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. He emphasized that the new school will benefit Qalali residents and those in the Muharraq constituency by reducing the need for children to travel to schools in neighbouring areas. This will provide a more suitable educational environment for students in the region.

Overall, the construction of the new girls’ school in Qalali is a significant development for the educational sector in Bahrain. With a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and modern facilities, the school is expected to provide a positive and enriching learning environment for students. The collaboration between government departments and external funding sources has been vital in bringing this project to fruition, showcasing a commitment to improving educational opportunities for the youth of Bahrain.

In conclusion, the new school in Qalali represents a step forward in providing quality education for girls in the region. By addressing the growing student population and incorporating modern facilities, the project is set to make a positive impact on the local community. The efforts of all involved parties, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Works, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, have been instrumental in ensuring the success of this initiative.
