Doha, Qatar – The Public Prosecution in Qatar has announced adjusted operating hours for the upcoming Qatar National Day holiday on December 18, 2025. The move aims to ensure continued access to legal services during the national celebration period, providing specific coverage at key locations. These adjustments are part of the ongoing efforts to facilitate public access to judicial processes.

Specifically, the main Public Prosecution building, along with the Residence Affairs Prosecution’s Search and Follow-up Department, will be open to the public during evening hours, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The Public Prosecution office situated at Hamad International Airport will maintain full, 24-hour operation throughout the holiday period, according to the official announcement.

Qatar National Day Public Prosecution Hours Announced

The announcement comes as Qatar prepares for its annual National Day celebrations, commemorating the founding of the modern state in 1878. This year’s festivities are expected to draw large crowds to public events, potentially increasing the need for legal services related to travel, residency, or other matters. The Public Prosecution’s decision demonstrates its commitment to public service during national observances.

The limited hours at the main Public Prosecution building reflect a balance between providing access and allowing staff to participate in the national holiday. Maintaining services during the evening allows citizens to address urgent legal matters without disruption. Alternate dispute resolution is often encouraged for less critical issues.

The continued 24-hour operation at Hamad International Airport is particularly important given the high volume of travelers passing through the hub. This ensures that individuals requiring immediate legal assistance, such as those facing issues with travel documents or requiring consular support, have uninterrupted access to the Public Prosecution’s services. Airport legal services often deal with issues of document legalization and travel restrictions.

Impact on Ongoing Cases

Individuals with ongoing legal cases are advised to contact the Public Prosecution directly for specific guidance regarding hearings or deadlines that may fall during the holiday period. While the building may operate on limited hours, essential case management functions are expected to continue. This is in line with the streamlining initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Justice to expedite legal proceedings.

The Public Prosecution’s adjustments for Qatar National Day are consistent with similar measures taken during other public holidays in the country. These adjustments are always announced in advance to allow the public sufficient time to plan accordingly. They also demonstrate a focus on providing consistent accessibility to justice even during peak travel or celebration times.

The overall Qatari legal system has undergone modernization in recent years, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency. These changes include increased digitalization of court processes and enhanced access to legal information. The Ministry of Justice continues to explore further refinements to contribute to a more accessible and responsive legal framework.

Looking ahead, the Public Prosecution is expected to release similar announcements regarding operating hours for other major holidays, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The effectiveness of the current adjusted hours will likely be reviewed based on public feedback and observed demand during the Qatar National Day period. Any further adjustments to legal services availability over the holiday will be communicated through official channels, and citizens are encouraged to stay informed about these updates.

The long-term impact of these access initiatives on case resolution times remains to be seen, as does the potential for increased public engagement with the judicial system. Continued monitoring will be essential to assess the benefits of these measures and refine them as needed.
