Paris Saint-Germain will clash with CR Flamengo in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025 final on Wednesday, December 17th, at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Doha. The match pits the reigning UEFA Champions League winners against a formidable Brazilian side that has enjoyed a successful run of form, culminating in qualification for the prestigious intercontinental competition. Both teams are aiming to add another major trophy to their cabinets as they prepare for a highly anticipated showdown.

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup Qatar 2025 represents a significant opportunity for both clubs to assert their dominance on the global stage. PSG secured their spot in the final by virtue of their Champions League victory, while Flamengo advanced through the FIFA Derby of the Americas and the FIFA Challenger Cup, defeating Cruz Azul and Pyramids FC respectively.

PSG Prepares for a Tough Test in the Intercontinental Cup

PSG head coach Luis Enrique anticipates a challenging match against Flamengo, acknowledging the Brazilian team’s quality and recent successes. He strategically rested key players – Bradley Barcola, Joao Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Lucas Chevalier – during their 3-2 Ligue 1 win against Metz on Saturday, prioritizing their fitness for the final. Despite the close league result, Enrique emphasized the Intercontinental Cup as a crucial objective for the Parisian squad.

However, PSG will be without Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, who is currently sidelined due to an ankle injury. The team has nevertheless travelled to Qatar with a strong 22-player squad, including Ballon d’Or 2025 winner Ousmane Dembele, who recovered from a recent illness. Other key players available for selection include Nuno Mendes, Desire Doue, and Vitinha.

Flamengo’s Momentum and Key Players

Flamengo enters the final with considerable momentum, having already claimed the FIFA Derby of the Americas title. Their coach, Filipe Luis, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to continue their winning streak, while also acknowledging the strength of their opponents. He described PSG as “the best team in the world” and emphasized the need for humility.

A significant contributor to Flamengo’s success has been Giorgian de Arrascaeta, who scored both goals against Cruz Azul and delivered crucial assists against Pyramids FC through precise set-piece deliveries. Luis, however, highlighted the importance of a collective team effort, noting their defensive solidity and ability to withstand pressure. The team’s strong performance in Qatar has been a testament to their overall preparation and tactical flexibility.

Looking Ahead to the Final

The clash between PSG and Flamengo promises to be a captivating contest, showcasing contrasting styles of play and a wealth of individual talent. PSG’s European pedigree and attacking prowess will be tested against Flamengo’s South American flair and tactical discipline. The outcome of the match could significantly impact the global club football landscape and further elevate the status of the winning team.

The final will be closely watched by football fans worldwide, with analysts predicting a tight and competitive encounter. The availability of key players and the ability to adapt to the conditions in Qatar will be crucial factors determining the winner. Following the match, attention will turn to potential transfer activity and pre-season preparations for the 2026 season, as both clubs look to build on their respective achievements.
