Amid escalating geopolitical tensions worldwide, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani delivered a keynote speech at the sixth Global Security Forum in Doha, Qatar. He highlighted the catastrophic consequences of mounting conflicts between major powers, including the proliferation of nuclear weapons and new wars with conventional weapons. The theme of the forum was ‘Strategic Competition: The Complexity of Interdependence,’ where participants discussed security challenges and potential risks facing the international system.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani emphasized the need for objective discussions on global security issues in a world plagued by crises and conflicts that threaten peace and security. The region faces escalating security concerns, particularly with civil and intra-state conflicts, such as the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. The Prime Minister stressed the need for global efforts to end conflicts and deliver aid to affected populations to mitigate humanitarian tragedies.

The Prime Minister warned against the consequences of occupation policies, forced displacement, and collective punishment, stating that they only perpetuate conflicts and fuel risks of escalation. He highlighted the humanitarian consequences of conflicts, including mass exodus and illegal immigration, driven by poverty and extremism. The State of Qatar has played a critical role in fostering global peace and security through mediation efforts, conflict resolution, and humanitarian aid to build resilience in crisis-affected countries.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani underscored the importance of shared action and cooperation in addressing global challenges. Qatar’s foreign policy is centered on cooperation and multilateral action to tackle shared challenges and promote global peace and security. The State of Qatar has been actively involved in mediation efforts between conflicting parties, including Russia and Ukraine, Venezuela and the United States, and Israel and Hamas, to reach peaceful resolutions and truces.

The Prime Minister highlighted the moral commitment of the State of Qatar to prevent the collapse of peace and stability in the region by using diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully. He emphasized the need for international forums to explore solutions that reflect humanity and ensure equal treatment for all individuals regardless of race or nationality. HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani expressed confidence in the ability of nations to overcome global challenges with goodwill, vibrant consciences, and a shared desire for a better world.
