The National Health Strategy 2024-2030, titled ‘Health for All,’ was launched by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in the presence of several dignitaries and officials, including Minister of Transport H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari. The strategy aims to enhance the health and well-being of the people of Qatar by providing excellent services in a sustainable and efficient healthcare system, building on the progress of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.

Minister of Public Health H E Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari stated that the new strategy marks the beginning of a new phase towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy for 2024-2030. The goal is to provide a long and healthy life for current and future generations, under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The strategy aims to achieve excellence in healthcare, with specific objectives including increasing life expectancy, reducing mortality from non-communicable diseases, and lowering infant mortality.

The National Development Strategy for 2024-2030 has set three priority areas, including ‘Improved Population Health and Wellbeing,’ ‘Excellence in service delivery and patient experience,’ and ‘Health system efficiency and resilience.’ These areas focus on promoting a health-conscious population, providing quality care and enhancing system sustainability through governance, financing, digitalization, workforce skills, and operational efficiency.

During the launch event, leaders of the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 were honored, along with representatives from organizations involved in the successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic and healthcare response to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The strategy also aims to recognize municipalities, educational institutions, and healthcare providers for their contributions to creating healthy cities, educational cities, and universities in Qatar.

Assistant Minister for Health Affairs, Dr. Salih Ali Al Marri, highlighted the importance of incorporating strategic pivots in the National Health Strategy 2024-2030 to address current and future health sector challenges. The strategy aims to deliver the best health outcomes for the people of Qatar by opening six new private and public hospitals and providing high-quality care through modernized and holistic care models.

The National Health Strategy 2024-2030 focuses on building a health-conscious population, engaging patients and improving their satisfaction at healthcare facilities, and reducing the burden of non-communicable and preventable diseases. It emphasizes all aspects of healthcare, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, and aims to enhance medical tourism, research and development, health innovation, emergency preparedness, and sustainable healthcare financing.

In conclusion, the National Health Strategy 2024-2030 aims to bring significant system shifts across three priority areas over the next seven years, with specific outcomes supported by various initiatives and projects. By focusing on excellence in healthcare delivery, system efficiency, and population health and well-being, the strategy aims to achieve the long-term goal of providing quality healthcare services to the people of Qatar.
