During their meeting, HE Sheikh Mohammed and Blinken discussed the need for a sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue, focusing on stabilizing Gaza and the West Bank for a permanent resolution while maintaining the two-state solution. Blinken praised Qatar’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region, emphasizing the importance of delivering humanitarian aid effectively to those in need in Gaza and West Bank. The US provided significant financial assistance for aid and support efforts in the region.
Blinken also addressed the situation in Lebanon, urging Israel to avoid targeting civilians, Lebanese army forces, and peacekeeping forces, while emphasizing the need to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 for peace and security.
