The 6th International Primary Health Care Conference (IPHCC) has commenced in Doha, Qatar, highlighting the country’s prominent role in advancing the global health sector. The event, held under the theme “Inspiring Tomorrow: The Power of Collaboration in Primary Health Care,” brings together over 1,000 experts and practitioners from around the world.

According to Dr. Zelaikha Al Wahedi, Assistant Managing Director of Quality and Workforce Development at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), the conference is a testament to Qatar’s commitment to strengthening its healthcare system through knowledge, prevention, and innovation. The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Health, underscoring the government’s emphasis on human health as a development priority.

Global Participation and Recognition

The conference has attracted a diverse range of participants, including leading global research and medical institutions, reflecting the international trust PHCC enjoys as a pioneering scientific center. Dr. Al Wahedi noted that the wide participation is a result of the success of previous conference editions in establishing PHCC as a global platform for scientific dialogue and the exchange of leading international experiences in primary healthcare.

The event provides a unique opportunity for experts to share knowledge and best practices in primary health care, with a focus on collaboration and innovation. The conference features a range of sessions and discussions on topics such as healthcare workforce development, quality improvement, and the role of technology in enhancing primary health care services.

Advancing Primary Health Care through Collaboration

The IPHCC is a key platform for advancing primary health care globally, and this year’s event is expected to build on previous successes. The conference aims to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing among healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers, with a view to improving health outcomes and strengthening health systems.

Dr. Al Wahedi emphasized that the conference aligns with Qatar’s national vision, which prioritizes human health and emphasizes the importance of building a healthcare system rooted in knowledge, prevention, and innovation. The event is also expected to contribute to the global discourse on primary health care, with a focus on innovative solutions and best practices.

Healthcare Workforce Development

One of the key areas of focus for the conference is healthcare workforce development, with discussions on strategies for enhancing the skills and competencies of healthcare professionals. The event features sessions on topics such as nursing education, medical training, and the role of technology in supporting workforce development.

Meanwhile, the conference also explores the role of quality improvement in primary health care, with a focus on strategies for enhancing patient safety and improving health outcomes. The event provides a platform for experts to share their experiences and best practices in quality improvement, with a view to informing policy and practice.

As the conference comes to a close, participants are expected to take away valuable insights and knowledge on the latest developments in primary health care. The outcomes of the event are likely to inform future healthcare policy and practice, both in Qatar and globally. While the exact outcomes are uncertain, the conference is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen primary health care systems and improve health outcomes.
