World number five Jessica Pegula has withdrawn from the French Open due to ongoing injury concerns. The American tennis player had previously been uncertain about her participation in Paris after struggling with injuries during the claycourt season. Pegula, who last competed in the Billie Jean King Cup in April, missed the Middle East swing in February due to a neck issue. Despite being almost back to normal and without any recent issues, she decided to focus on her recovery to ensure her full return for the grass season and the rest of the year.

In a statement on Instagram, Pegula expressed her disappointment at missing Roland Garros this year but remains optimistic about her future. She is determined to increase her match count and continue grinding out the rest of the season. Pegula, who reached the third round at Roland Garros last year, did not disclose the nature of her latest injury but had also skipped Rome, Stuttgart, and Madrid earlier in the season. Known for her consistency on the WTA Tour, she won the Montreal title last year and reached the round of 16 at the U.S. Open.

The French Open’s first round is set to begin on Sunday, and Pegula’s absence will be felt by her fans and the tennis community. Despite this setback, she remains focused on returning to full strength and competing at the highest level. With her sights set on the upcoming grass season and beyond, Pegula is determined to make a strong comeback and continue building on her success from last year. Stay tuned to see how Pegula’s journey unfolds and how she navigates her recovery to return to the court stronger than ever.
