Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) recently celebrated the graduation of over 600 young Omanis as a part of the company’s Emdad initiative. Launched in 2011, the Emdad initiative aims to provide job opportunities and training programs for Omani jobseekers in various sectors, including the oil and gas sector. The trainees, who were the 20th batch to graduate from the programme, underwent technical and non-technical training programs to align with the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s economic diversification efforts. These programs include lifting inspection, HSE practitioner, protection engineers, IT for females, and more, enabling the graduates to contribute to sectors such as HSE, Engineering, IT, and Quality Control.

The training programs ranged from seven to 24 months and were held at various training institutes and companies. The graduation ceremony, which took place at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), was held under the auspices of Mohsin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in the presence of Dr. Aflah Said Al Hadhrami, PDO’s Managing Director. The Undersecretary commended the dedication of the graduates and highlighted PDO’s commitment to creating job opportunities that align with Oman’s economic diversification goals. The graduates, equipped with technical and non-technical skills, are now prepared to contribute to the sectors crucial to Oman’s development.

PDO Managing Director, Dr. Aflah Al Hadrami, emphasized that the Emdad programme reinforces PDO’s commitment to enhancing the skills of Omani youth in the oil and gas sector. Since its inception in 2011, the Emdad programme has created thousands of jobs and training opportunities for Omani jobseekers through specialized training programs. The programme’s success is evident in the achievement of over 600 young Omanis who have completed their training and are now equipped to contribute to the country’s development, particularly in sectors that are vital for economic growth.

The Emdad initiative not only provides job opportunities for Omani youth but also plays a significant role in supporting the government’s economic diversification efforts. By offering training programs in various technical and non-technical fields, the initiative aims to empower young Omanis to contribute to sectors essential for Oman’s growth and development, such as HSE, Engineering, IT, and Quality Control. Through the Emdad programme, PDO continues to demonstrate its commitment to the socio-economic development of Oman by investing in the country’s human capital and creating sustainable job opportunities for the youth.

The graduation ceremony at OCEC symbolized the culmination of the graduates’ hard work and dedication throughout the training programs. With the support of the undersecretary and PDO’s Managing Director, the young Omanis who completed the Emdad initiative are now poised to enter the workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their respective fields. The success of the Emdad programme in creating job opportunities and training programs for Omani jobseekers underscores PDO’s role in supporting Oman’s economic goals and nurturing a skilled workforce that can drive the country’s development forward.

As PDO celebrates the 20th batch of graduates from the Emdad initiative, the company’s commitment to enhancing the skills and capabilities of Omani youth in the oil and gas sector remains unwavering. With thousands of job opportunities created and specialized training programs offered since the programme’s inception, PDO continues to be a key player in empowering Omani youth and contributing to the country’s economic diversification efforts. The success of the Emdad initiative is a testament to PDO’s dedication to supporting Oman’s development by investing in its human capital and providing young Omanis with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce.
