The Bahrain International Airport has experienced a significant increase in passenger traffic in the month of April, according to a report by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication. The airport served a total of 747,964 passengers, a substantial rise from the previous year. This surge in passenger numbers is a positive sign for the travel industry and indicates a recovery in travel activities.

The top destinations from the Bahrain International Airport in April were Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, with passenger figures exceeding 71,000, representing a 37% increase from the same month in the previous year. Muscat followed closely with a 36% increase at over 16,000 passengers. Riyadh and Kuwait City also experienced growth, recording over 50,000 and 31,000 passengers, respectively, with increases of 33% and 17%.

The airport managed a total of 7,950 aircraft movements and handled over 39,000 transiting aircraft during the month of April. In terms of air freight, the airport processed over 11,000 tons of incoming cargo and dispatched over 6,000 tons, indicating sustained activity in this sector. This data highlights the airport’s crucial role in facilitating both passenger and cargo movement in the region.

The increased travel demand in April can be attributed in part to the Eid al-Fitr holiday, reflecting the airport’s capability to accommodate travel during peak times and support the revival of the travel and tourism industry in Bahrain. The Ministry’s statistics underscore the growing significance of the Bahrain International Airport as a central hub for regional travel and cargo, further solidifying its position in the market.

Overall, the latest figures from the Bahrain International Airport demonstrate a positive trend in passenger traffic and air freight activity, signaling a rebound in the travel sector. With increasing numbers of passengers and cargo movements, the airport continues to play a vital role in connecting Bahrain to various destinations and supporting the growth of the travel industry in the region. As travel demand picks up, the airport is well-equipped to meet the needs of travelers and cargo operators, contributing to the overall recovery of the sector.
