Lisk, a well-known Ethereum Layer-2 solution, has recently partnered with an Indonesian government-backed startup initiative to launch a Web3 program called Ignit3. This initiative, which was unveiled during the Coinfest Asia 2024 event in Bali, aims to support and nurture the local Web3 startup ecosystem by providing mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities. Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital, the Indonesian government-supported program behind this initiative, is dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the Southeast Asia region, with a new focus on supporting and scaling Web3 projects and entrepreneurs in Indonesia. By partnering with this initiative, Lisk hopes to empower developers, enhance financial inclusion, and cultivate a strong crypto community in the region.

Dominic Schwenter, the COO of Lisk, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in advancing Web3 innovation in emerging markets. This partnership aligns with Lisk’s recent efforts to accelerate the adoption of real-world assets in emerging economies through a collaboration with Backed Finance. The collaboration with Backed Finance has facilitated the adoption of real-world assets across multiple applications, showcasing Lisk’s commitment to driving innovation and growth in the crypto space. The partnership with Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital and the launch of Ignit3 are key milestones in Lisk’s mission to expand its presence in the Web3 ecosystem and support the development of a thriving crypto community.

The crypto and Web3 ecosystem in Indonesia has been experiencing rapid growth, with positive support from the government towards its adoption. Notably, the Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency of Indonesia (Bappebti) is set to transfer the supervision of crypto assets to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) beginning in January 2025, signaling a significant step towards regulatory clarity in the crypto sector. The Indonesian government has also shown a keen interest in exploring blockchain applications across various sectors, recognizing the potential benefits of blockchain technology. In the financial services sector, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) has established a regulatory sandbox to promote innovation in Web3, with 97 companies having registered for the sandbox as of November 2023.

The partnership between Lisk and Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital represents a collaborative effort to drive the growth of the Web3 ecosystem in Indonesia and support the development of innovative projects and entrepreneurs in the region. By leveraging Lisk’s expertise in Ethereum Layer-2 solutions and the resources provided by Startup Digital, the Ignit3 program aims to create a supportive environment for Web3 startups to thrive and succeed. Through mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to resources, Ignit3 seeks to empower developers and entrepreneurs to build innovative Web3 solutions that drive financial inclusion and foster community engagement. The launch of Ignit3 marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Web3 innovation in Indonesia, showcasing the potential for government-backed initiatives to spur growth and development in the crypto and blockchain space.

As Indonesia continues to position itself as a hub for crypto and Web3 innovation, initiatives like Ignit3 play a crucial role in fostering a vibrant and dynamic ecosystem for startups and developers. The support from government-backed programs like Gerakan Nasional 1000 Startup Digital demonstrates a commitment to driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, opening up new opportunities for collaboration and growth in the Web3 space. With a focus on empowering developers, promoting financial inclusion, and building a strong crypto community, the partnership between Lisk and Startup Digital is poised to make a significant impact on the development of the Web3 ecosystem in Indonesia. By leveraging the resources and expertise of both partners, Ignit3 has the potential to accelerate the growth of Web3 startups and propel Indonesia to the forefront of blockchain innovation in the region.
