Parliament to hold Joint Session to discuss Disputed Items in Draft Laws on Monday

The State Council and the Shura Council in Muscat will be holding their first joint session on 1 July 2024, during the first annual convening of the 8th term. The session will be chaired by Sheikh Abdulmalek Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, with Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council also in attendance. The main focus of the session will be on discussing reports from joint committees regarding items of dispute in draft bills, including the “Bank Deposits Protection Law”, “The Law Regulating Trade in Wildlife” and “Media Law”. The session will involve voting on these items of dispute in accordance with the established procedures for joint sessions between the two councils.
