The Public Utilities and Environment Committee of the House of Representatives has recommended the approval of a proposal to increase the number of housing units in the Southern Governorate’s constituency 7. The proposal, submitted by MP Ali Al Nuaimi, aims to address the significant housing demand in the area, particularly for long-standing applications. The explanatory memorandum accompanying the proposal highlights the rapid population growth in the area, the limited number of existing housing projects, and the urgent need for additional housing units.

The committee discussed the proposal with the Ministry of Housing, which confirmed that it is currently working on constructing 372 new housing units in Khalifa City. The ministry also highlighted ongoing land development projects under the Land Development Rights programme, aimed at providing affordable housing options for citizens. Despite the ministry’s ongoing efforts, the committee still recommended approval of the proposal, underscoring the continued need for increased housing in constituency 7.

The ministry further mentioned new flexible financing programmes to support homeownership. Despite these efforts, the recommendation for more housing units in constituency 7 serves as a response to the growing population and increasing demand for housing in the area. The parliament is set to vote on the proposal next Tuesday, and approval is expected in order to meet the housing needs of the residents in the Southern Governorate’s constituency 7.

Increasing the number of housing units in constituency 7 will not only provide much-needed accommodation for residents but also contribute to the overall development and growth of the area. The proposed new housing projects aim to cater to those on waiting lists for housing, addressing the long-standing demand for affordable and accessible housing options. By allocating land for new housing projects, the government aims to meet the needs of the residents and ensure a balanced and sustainable development in the area.

In addition to the construction of new housing units, the Ministry of Housing is also focusing on providing flexible financing programmes to support homeownership for citizens. This initiative aims to make housing more accessible and affordable for residents, thus promoting a higher rate of homeownership in the area. With ongoing land development projects and affordable housing options, the government is working towards meeting the housing needs of the residents of constituency 7.

Overall, the approval of the proposal to increase the number of housing units in constituency 7 is crucial to address the growing demand for housing in the area. By expanding housing projects and providing additional affordable housing options, the government aims to cater to the needs of the residents and promote sustainable development in the Southern Governorate. The recommendation by the Public Utilities and Environment Committee highlights the urgency of the situation and the importance of taking proactive measures to meet the housing demands of the residents.
