Al Duhail put up a stellar performance in a much-anticipated match against arch-rivals Al Sadd, emerging victorious with a score of 5-1. The Red Knights have now claimed their fifth consecutive win in the Ooredoo Stars League, showcasing a perfect start with 18 goals. The team went five points clear of Al Ahli, who are in second place. Umm Salal defeated Al Shahania 4-2, securing the third spot in the standings, while Al Shamal climbed to fourth place after a 2-1 win over Al Khor. It was initially expected to be a nail-biter between the two title contenders, but Al Duhail took command early on with four goals in the first half.

Edmilson Junior, Michael Olunga, and Homam Al Amin scored for Al Duhail in the first half, with captain Almoez Ali sealing the victory in the second half. Al Sadd’s captain Hassan Al Haydos managed to score a goal late in the first half, but it was not enough for the reigning champions to secure a win. Al Sadd slipped to fifth place in the standings, and will need a strong comeback in their title defense. Al Duhail’s coach Christophe Galtier praised his team’s performance, highlighting their control over the game and penetration of Al Sadd’s defenses. The team’s commitment and tactical plan were key to their success.

Al Duhail continued to dominate the game, with Kenyan striker Michael Olunga eventually opening the scoring in the 13th minute after missing a penalty kick earlier on. Edmilson Junior scored a brace, maintaining his scoring form from the previous week. Al Haydos managed to score a goal for Al Sadd just before halftime, but Almoez Ali’s goal in the second half sealed the victory for Al Duhail. In another match, Umm Salal secured a 4-2 victory over Al Shahania with Antonio Mance scoring a brace, helping his team secure their third win of the season. Al Shamal also clinched a 2-1 win over Al Khor, with Baghdad Bounedjah and Mohamed Rafik Omar finding the back of the net.

Today’s fixtures include a marquee clash between Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah, along with matches between Qatar SC and Al Gharafa, as well as Al Ahli against Al Arabi. The Ooredoo Stars League continues to showcase exciting matches and fierce competition as teams battle for the top spot in the standings. Fans can expect more thrilling performances and skillful displays from the players as the season progresses. Overall, Al Duhail’s dominant performance against Al Sadd sets the stage for an exciting season ahead in Qatar’s top-flight football league.
