Oman officially inaugurates pavilion at the 29th Climate Summit in Azerbaijan

The Sultanate of Oman recently opened its pavilion at the 29th Climate Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, with a strong presence of international negotiators. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, emphasized Oman’s commitment to all agreed-upon items in previous meetings and provided an overview of the practical steps taken in energy transition and carbon emissions capture. He highlighted the importance of dialogue between oil and gas producers and supporters of energy transition, stressing the need for all types of energy while promoting the use of clean energy sources. Despite commitments from various countries, challenges remain in terms of funding sources.

The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at the Climate Summit focuses on energy transition and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. It showcases the roles and achievements of the Environment Authority in environmental conservation, as well as climate-related actions and projects in the energy sector. Various sectors such as industry, electricity generation, oil and gas, and transportation are represented, with a focus on emission reduction and energy transformation projects. The pavilion serves as a platform to highlight Oman’s efforts in environmental sustainability and clean energy projects.

Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, described Oman’s participation in the Climate Summit as successful and effective, highlighting national efforts in environmental conservation and carbon emission reduction projects. The pavilion also hosted a discussion panel with Ministers of Environment and Climate Change from Arab and foreign countries, as well as experts from the United Nations and specialized organizations. Over 200 participants from various state institutions were involved in showcasing Oman’s commitment to achieving national climate targets, including the National Strategy for Zero Neutrality.
