The Sultanate of Oman is once again offering investment opportunities with the launch of its 10th issuance of Oman Sovereign Sukuk. This new offering, valued at OMR 150 million with a potential increase to OMR 200 million through a Greenshoe option, provides both individual and institutional investors a chance to participate in the nation’s economic growth while adhering to Islamic finance principles. The Sukuk presents a fixed profit rate and a seven-year maturity, making it a potentially attractive addition to diversified investment portfolios.

Details of the 10th Oman Sovereign Sukuk Issuance

The latest Oman Sovereign Sukuk issuance is structured to appeal to a wide range of investors, reinforcing the government’s commitment to developing a robust and accessible Islamic finance market within the Sultanate. Key details include:

  • Issue Size: OMR 150 million, with a Greenshoe option of up to OMR 50 million. This allows the total issuance to potentially reach OMR 200 million, depending on investor demand.
  • Profit Rate: A fixed annual profit rate of 4.15% will be paid to Sukuk holders.
  • Maturity: The Sukuk has a seven-year maturity, meaning the principal will be repaid on December 25, 2032.
  • Profit Payments: Payments will be made semi-annually, on June 25th and December 25th of each year.
  • Subscription Period: From Wednesday, December 17th, 2025, to Monday, December 22nd, 2025.
  • Issuance Date: Expected on Thursday, December 25th, 2025.

This issuance builds upon the success of previous Sukuk offerings, designed to diversify the funding sources for government projects and initiatives. These sovereign instruments also contribute to the development of a deeper and more liquid market for Islamic bonds.

Who Can Invest in Oman Sovereign Sukuk?

The offering is intentionally inclusive, welcoming participation from both domestic and international investors. This broad accessibility highlights Oman’s efforts to attract capital from diverse sources.

  • Individuals: Omani citizens and residents, as well as eligible international individuals, can subscribe to the Sukuk.
  • Institutions: Banks, investment funds, insurance companies, and other institutional investors, both within Oman and internationally, are encouraged to participate.

To participate, investors are required to have an investor number from the Muscat Clearing and Depository Company (MCDC). Obtaining this number can be done quickly and easily through the MCDC website or the ‘Oman Stocks’ mobile application – a crucial step to complete at least one business day before applying.

How to Subscribe to the Sukuk Offering

The subscription process has been streamlined for investor convenience. Applications can be submitted through a network of prominent banks operating in Oman. These include:

  • Bank Muscat (and its Islamic window, Meethaq)
  • Ahli Bank (and its Islamic window, Ahli Islamic)
  • Bank Dhofar (and its Islamic window, Dhofar Islamic)
  • Oman National Bank (and its Islamic window, Muzn Islamic)
  • Oman Arab Bank
  • Bank Nizwa
  • Sohar International Bank

Prospective subscribers can access the detailed subscription prospectus and application forms through the websites of the Ministry of Finance and the respective collecting banks. Following a competitive subscription method, investors will submit their bids during the designated subscription period.

Importance of Sharia Compliance and Market Listing

A key feature of the Oman Sovereign Sukuk is its adherence to Sharia principles. This makes it a suitable investment option for individuals and institutions seeking investments aligned with Islamic finance guidelines. The Sukuk’s structure has been thoroughly vetted to ensure full compliance with these tenets.

Additionally, the Sukuk will be listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX). This listing provides investors with the opportunity for secondary market trading, offering liquidity and the potential to adjust their holdings based on prevailing market conditions. The MSX listing will feature transparent price discovery, enabling fair trading between buyers and sellers. Islamic finance benefits from this added stability and accessibility.

Investor Considerations & Account Verification

The Oman Sovereign Sukuk Company is emphasizing the importance of accurate account verification. Subscribers are strongly urged to ensure the bank account number provided in their application precisely matches the account registered with MCDC. Mismatched information can lead to delays in processing subscriptions and, more importantly, in receiving profit payments and the principal repayment upon maturity.

Furthermore, investors should carefully review the complete subscription prospectus to fully understand the risks and benefits associated with investing in the Oman Sovereign Sukuk. Considering your overall investment strategy and risk tolerance is paramount before making any investment decisions.

In conclusion, the 10th issuance of Oman Sovereign Sukuk represents a significant opportunity for investors seeking a Sharia-compliant, fixed-income investment with a competitive profit rate. With its accessible subscription process, broad eligibility criteria, and MSX listing, this offering is poised to contribute to the growth of Oman’s financial markets. Investors are encouraged to gather all necessary information from the Ministry of Finance and collecting bank websites and to submit their applications thoughtfully during the subscription period. Don’t miss out on this potentially valuable investment offering – review the details and consider if it aligns with your financial goals.
