The Oman Business Forum, organized in collaboration with The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion, aimed to discuss the latest developments in the future of energies and industries across all sectors. Held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center on May 20th, 2024, the event was attended by His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion, along with other officials and business leaders. During his speech, HE Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef highlighted the increasing importance of renewable energy and sustainability in shaping Oman’s economic future. Oman aims to become the largest source of green hydrogen in the Middle East and the sixth-largest globally by 2030, with an annual target production of one million tons of green hydrogen.

His Excellency also discussed the signing of a partnership program between the Ministry and “The Business Year” institution to support the release of the 10th annual edition of the book titled “Oman 2024,” which will focus on Oman’s vision for 2040. Engineer Ammar bin Sulaiman Al Kharousi, Director General of the Investment Services Center, presented the strategic role of the Invest Oman platform in attracting quality investments to Oman. The platform aims to promote foreign investment rates by improving the business environment, facilitating the investor journey, and achieving high-impact projects in collaboration with various government entities.

The forum included two working sessions, with the first discussing empowering technology-based businesses in Oman and the key enablers for digital transformation in the Omani business environment. The second session focused on sustainability, highlighting initiatives related to environmental preservation, social care, and business practices. Omani business leaders from various trade and local economic sectors gathered to explore the investment landscape, digital transformation, energy transition, and the role of new technologies in banking services and logistics.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, & Investment Promotion aims to enhance cooperation with international media institutions to market Oman as an attractive investment destination. Reports such as these serve as marketing tools introducing Oman’s business environment and investment climate to a global audience. The “InvestOman” platform showcases investment opportunities to local and international investors, disseminating updates from the local scene to the global stage. This report is distributed at various events organized by the ministry worldwide, further promoting Oman as an investment-friendly destination.
