The historical ties between Oman and Jordan have been further strengthened during the recent State visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Jordan. The leaders of both countries expressed their commitment to enhancing relations and cooperation in various fields to achieve comprehensive integration. The visit included discussions on expanding investment, trade, industry, and other vital sectors to meet the aspirations of both peoples.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Oman Investment Authority and Jordan’s Social Security Corporation to explore joint investment opportunities and establish new projects in Jordan. The leaders also discussed the importance of joint Arab action to address current issues and serve Arab causes. They emphasized the central status of the Palestinian cause and the need for a just solution that fulfills the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

In light of the ongoing aggressive war in Gaza, the leaders called on the international community to take action to stop the violence and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected areas. They also reiterated their support for the Palestinian Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and rejected attempts to separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank. The leaders emphasized the need to preserve the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

During the visit, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presented King Abdullah II with the ‘Order of Al Said,” the highest Omani medal, to reflect the strong bilateral relations between Oman and Jordan. In return, King Abdullah II awarded His Majesty the Sultan with the ‘Order of al Hussein bin Ali,’ the highest Jordanian medal, showing pride in the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries. The visit concluded with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality he received during his visit to Jordan.
