Old Manama Market reopens after fire, electricity restored

Following a fire that broke out in the Old Manama Souq, most unaffected shops have reopened after a temporary closure due to a power outage. Mahmoud Al Namilti, Vice President of the Manama Souq Development Committee, confirmed this news through his official Instagram account. He praised the efforts of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) for restoring power to the affected shops and also mentioned the provision of a new transformer to ensure the businesses can resume operations. Work is currently in progress in the area to assess the full extent of the damage and report it to the relevant authorities. The News of Bahrain reported that over 70 properties, including shops, apartments, and historical buildings, were damaged, with estimates exceeding 10 million dinars.
