The Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA) in Bahrain is making significant strides in enhancing and streamlining its services to meet the needs of citizens and residents. Under the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the NPRA is collaborating with the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology to develop new services aimed at improving efficiency and service quality. Currently, there are nine new services available with two more in progress.

Some of the newly developed services include issuing replacement passports for lost or damaged ones, passport delivery within Bahrain, emergency travel documents, expedited passport replacement, and replacement passports for those outside the Kingdom. Additionally, improvements have been made in issuing, renewing, or cancelling residency permits, with grace periods offered for residents whose permits have expired.

The NPRA is focused on transitioning to fully electronic submissions, reducing required documents by 50%, and simplifying application processes to enhance user experience. The ultimate goal is to achieve 100% electronic services and drive the digital transformation agenda to serve the public better. Efforts are also underway to develop services for updating passport information for residents with newly issued passports and registering foreign-born children.

Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary for NPRA, has underscored the commitment to continuously improving services and advancing initiatives to meet the highest quality standards. By enhancing and expanding the range of services available, the NPRA aims to contribute to economic growth and better serve the needs of both citizens and residents. Through ongoing collaboration and innovation, the NPRA is ensuring that the public receives efficient and high-quality services in a streamlined manner.

With a focus on simplifying procedures and enhancing service quality, the NPRA is working towards meeting the directives set by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to develop 500 services across 24 government entities. By working closely with the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology, the NPRA is paving the way for a more efficient and user-friendly service experience for the public. Through these efforts, the NPRA is driving the digital transformation agenda and ensuring continuous improvement in the delivery of services to meet the evolving needs of citizens and residents in Bahrain.
