The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) is gearing up for the upcoming International Conference on the Protection of Children and Other Vulnerable Groups in partnership with the European Ombudsman Institute (EOI). Scheduled for tomorrow, the conference will feature opening speeches from distinguished figures such as Chairperson of NHRC H E Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, President of EOI H E Prof. Dragan Milkov, and Head of Analysis and Outreach Hub at the Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Dawood Al Masri.

The conference will consist of three sessions, with the first session focusing on protecting children and other vulnerable groups during migration and war. Notable speakers for the first session include Chief Ombudsman of Turkiye H E Seref Malkoc, Human Rights Commissioner of Russia H E Tatyana Moskalkova, Ombudsperson of the Turkish Speaking Community of Cyprus H E lkan Varol, and Chief of the International Organization for Migration Mission in Qatar Ewa Naqvi. These experts will shed light on various issues related to the protection of children and vulnerable groups in the context of migration and war.

The role of the ombudsman in safeguarding children’s rights during migration and war will be a key topic of discussion during the conference. Additionally, the presentations by esteemed speakers will touch upon the challenges and solutions related to protecting children and other vulnerable groups, particularly within the framework of human rights and international cooperation. The conference aims to raise awareness, foster dialogue, and promote concrete actions to ensure the well-being and safety of children and vulnerable populations in times of conflict and displacement.

With a focus on international cooperation and best practices, the conference will provide a platform for policymakers, experts, and advocates to exchange ideas and strategies for effective protection of children and vulnerable groups. By bringing together a diverse range of perspectives and experiences, the event seeks to enhance understanding and collaboration among stakeholders working towards the common goal of upholding the rights and dignity of all individuals, especially those most at risk in crisis situations.

The collaboration between NHRC and EOI underscores the importance of global partnerships in addressing the complex challenges facing children and vulnerable groups in today’s world. Through joint efforts and coordinated actions, organizations and institutions can make a meaningful impact in advocating for the rights and well-being of those most in need of protection and support. The conference serves as a platform for dialogue, networking, and knowledge-sharing to advance the cause of human rights and social justice for all.

In conclusion, the International Conference on the Protection of Children and Other Vulnerable Groups marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to promote and uphold human rights principles in the face of conflict, migration, and other challenges. By shining a spotlight on the unique vulnerabilities of children and marginalized populations, the conference aims to catalyze action, inspire change, and galvanize collective efforts towards a more inclusive and compassionate society for all. Through collaboration, cooperation, and solidarity, we can build a brighter future for generations to come, where the rights and dignity of every individual are respected and protected.
