The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has announced that the Saudi Super Cup will take place in the city of Abha in the southern Asir region from August 13 to 17, 2024. The tournament will be organized by SAFF in collaboration with the Asir Development Authority and the Saudi Tourism Authority, represented by “The Spirit of Saudi Arabia,” the official identity of Saudi tourism. This decision comes after the initial plan to hold the tournament in China was scrapped.

The tournament will coincide with the 2024 Asir Summer Season, during which the region’s tourism identity ‘Asir Tahawal’ will be launched. The Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Abha will host the semi-finals and final matches of the competition. The defending champions Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, and Al-Taawoun clubs will compete in the matches.

The first semi-final match will be between Al-Hilal, the King’s Cup Champion and Saudi Professional League Champion, and Al-Ahli, who are currently third in the standings, on August 13. The second semi-final will take place on August 14, featuring Al-Nassr, the King’s Cup runner-up, and Al-Taawoun, who are fourth in the table.

The final match is set to take place on August 17 between the winners of the semi-final matches. Al-Hilal emerged victorious in the 2023 Super Cup by defeating Al-Ittihad 4-1 in the final, securing their fourth title. This event is expected to attract a large audience both domestically and internationally, showcasing the talent and competitiveness of Saudi Arabian football.

The decision to host the Saudi Super Cup in Abha highlights the growing importance of the Asir region as a sporting and tourism destination. With the support of organizations such as SAFF, the Asir Development Authority, and the Saudi Tourism Authority, the tournament is set to promote the region’s unique cultural and natural attractions to a global audience. This collaboration between sports and tourism sectors reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to showcasing its diverse offerings to the world.

The Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Abha will serve as a fitting venue for the semi-finals and final matches of the Saudi Super Cup, providing fans with a world-class sporting experience. As the defending champions look to retain their title, football enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing exciting matches between some of the top clubs in the country. The tournament not only promotes healthy competition but also contributes to the growth and development of football in Saudi Arabia.

Overall, the Saudi Super Cup promises to be a thrilling event that celebrates the passion for football in the Kingdom and showcases the beauty of the Asir region. With top clubs competing for the prestigious title, fans can expect intense matches and unforgettable moments on the field. As Saudi Arabia continues to invest in sports and tourism, events like the Saudi Super Cup play a crucial role in enhancing the country’s global reputation and attracting visitors from around the world.
