Indian shooter Manu Bhaker made history by winning India’s first medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. She secured a bronze in the Women’s Air Pistol event with a score of 221.7, becoming the first woman to win a shooting medal at the Olympics. This achievement was particularly significant as Bhaker redeemed herself after facing issues with her pistol at the Tokyo Olympics. She also made history by becoming the first Indian woman in 20 years to reach an individual shooting final at the Olympics.

The gold medal in the Women’s Air Pistol event went to South Korea’s Ye Jin, who set an Olympic record with 243.2 points. Ye Jin’s compatriot, Kim Yeji, took the silver with 241.3 points. Bhaker’s impressive performance in the qualification round earned her a spot in the finals, where she showcased her skill and determination to clinch the bronze medal. Her success at the Paris Olympics marked a significant milestone for Indian shooting and set a positive tone for the country’s overall performance at the games.

On the opening day of the Paris Olympics, Bhaker finished third in the Women’s 10 Metre Air Pistol qualification round, securing her place in the final. However, her compatriot Rhythm Sangwan failed to advance to the finals after finishing in 15th place. Bhaker’s consistent performance and ability to handle pressure in high-stakes competitions have earned her recognition as one of India’s top shooting talents. Her success at the Paris Olympics has further solidified her reputation as a rising star in the world of shooting sports.

Bhaker’s bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics not only showcased her individual talent but also highlighted India’s growing presence in the shooting world. With her historic achievement, Bhaker has inspired a new generation of Indian shooters to aim for excellence on the international stage. The recognition and support she has received from fans and officials reflect the growing interest and investment in shooting sports in India. As the country continues to produce talented athletes like Bhaker, the future of Indian shooting looks promising on the global stage.

The significance of Bhaker’s bronze medal win goes beyond individual accolades; it symbolizes a broader shift in India’s sporting landscape. The success of athletes like Bhaker at international events has sparked a renewed interest in shooting sports across the country. This growing enthusiasm for sports and the increasing recognition of athletes’ achievements are crucial for India’s overall development in the sporting arena. Bhaker’s win at the Paris Olympics is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience required to succeed at the highest level of competition.

As Bhaker continues to make strides in her shooting career, her bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics will serve as a milestone in her journey towards achieving greater success. The lessons learned from her experiences, including setbacks and triumphs, will undoubtedly shape her future performances and inspire fellow athletes in India. With her talent, determination, and unwavering spirit, Bhaker has established herself as a role model for aspiring shooters and a trailblazer for women in the world of sports. Her legacy at the Paris Olympics will be remembered as a defining moment in Indian shooting history.
