According to a survey by Hays, 68 percent of technology professionals in the GCC region believe that artificial intelligence (AI) has increased productivity and efficiency. Additionally, 50 percent of technology professionals in the Gulf region are already using AI as a communication assistant, highlighting the growing role and importance of this new-age technology. Despite this, only 24 percent of technology professionals in the GCC region have received training or support to adopt AI technologies in their work. This figure is higher than most European countries, with only The Netherlands having a slightly higher training rate at 27 percent.

The regional managing director at Hays Middle East, Oliver Kowalski, emphasized the competitive advantage for companies in the Middle East looking to hire tech professionals. Middle Eastern tech professionals show a desire for AI training and working on innovative projects with the latest technologies. The UAE has been at the forefront of embracing new-age technologies such as AI and blockchain, being the first country in the world to appoint an AI minister. This indicates a strong push towards technological advancements in the region.

The survey also showed that the Middle East technology sector is more progressive than that of Europe, with a higher percentage of tech professionals in the Middle East using AI compared to any European country. More Middle East organizations are also offering AI training and support, indicating a greater commitment to integrating AI into their operations. However, only 30 percent of all employers in the EMEA region currently recommend the use of AI, suggesting that there is still room for growth and adoption of AI technologies among businesses in the region.

The findings of this survey highlight the need for businesses in the Middle East to invest in AI training and support for their employees. With the region showing a higher adoption rate of AI compared to Europe, companies that prioritize AI initiatives and provide opportunities for tech professionals to work on innovative projects with the latest technologies have a competitive edge in attracting top talent. By showcasing their AI vision and initiatives to prospective hires, companies can position themselves as leaders in the tech space and attract skilled professionals who are eager to work on cutting-edge projects.

In conclusion, the survey results indicate a positive outlook for the adoption of AI in the Middle East, with tech professionals in the region showing a strong interest in utilizing AI technologies to improve productivity and efficiency. The UAE’s leadership in embracing new-age technologies sets a precedent for other countries in the region to follow suit. With more Middle East organizations offering AI training and support, there is an opportunity for businesses to distinguish themselves by investing in AI initiatives and providing avenues for tech professionals to enhance their skills. As AI continues to shape the future of work, the Middle East’s proactive approach to integrating AI technologies positions the region as a hub for innovation and technological advancement.
