A new medical college is set to open in Dubai within a year and will start hiring for its new facility six months prior to its opening. Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founder and president of Thumbay Group, announced the establishment of Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare, which will have a capacity of nearly 300 students. The college will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs, focusing on AI in healthcare, a niche segment that currently lacks any colleges in the UAE. This new venture aims to expand into healthcare, education, and other businesses, with plans to open branches in Saudi Arabia, London, and Singapore in the near future.

Thumbay Group, based in Ajman, is a leading healthcare and education service provider with over 3,000 employees. The group plans to recruit 100 specialized professionals and administrative staff starting in January 2025 for the new college. Dr. Moideen highlighted the group’s existing academic health system, which includes multiple hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, labs, colleges, and institutes offering accredited programs to students from various nations worldwide. Moreover, Gulf Medical University, in collaboration with Thumbay Group, plans to introduce new courses and expand its capacity over the next three years, aiming to double their reach and impact.

In addition to the new college, Gulf Medical University will be offering new programs in artificial intelligence and informatics in healthcare. Professor Hossam Hamdy, the Chancellor of GMU, emphasized the university’s vision to lead in innovation, digital transformation, and the integration of AI in health education in the coming years. Dr. Moideen also disclosed plans to establish an AI lab and invited students to participate in this facility, emphasizing the group’s commitment to ongoing advancement and innovation. With a strong focus on academic excellence and technological advancements, Thumbay Group and GMU aim to set new standards in healthcare education and research.

The Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare represents a significant milestone in Thumbay Group’s expansion plans, with a strategic approach to leveraging AI in healthcare education. The college’s focus on specialized programs and practical training in AI will provide students with unique learning opportunities and prepare them for the evolving healthcare industry. The college’s location in Dubai, a thriving hub for innovation and technology, will further enhance its growth and influence in the region and beyond. The recruitment of specialized professionals and administrative staff underscores the group’s commitment to providing quality education and healthcare services to its diverse student and patient population.

With a robust academic health system and a track record of success, Thumbay Group and GMU are poised for continued growth and innovation in the healthcare and education sectors. The group’s vision to lead in innovation and digital transformation, coupled with its strategic expansion plans, sets a solid foundation for future success. By investing in AI and new technologies, GMU aims to stay at the forefront of healthcare education and research, enabling students to gain valuable skills and knowledge in the rapidly changing healthcare landscape. As the Thumbay College of Management and AI in Healthcare prepares to open its doors, it is poised to make a significant impact on the healthcare industry and shape the future of healthcare education in the UAE and beyond.
