New Al Shaqab League season begins

The Al Shaqab League, Qatar’s premier show jumping competition, has kicked off its third season. The event, held at the Longines Indoor Arena, features young riders competing in various classes. The competition is part of Al Shaqab’s efforts to nurture equestrian talent in the country.

The first day of Round 1 saw riders compete in four classes: Intro 2 (60 cm), Future Champions (110/115 cm), Junior Champions (120/125 cm), and Youth Champions (130/135 cm). The classes were held under Optimum Time and Table A formats, challenging the riders’ skills and horsemanship.

Al Shaqab League: A Platform for Emerging Riders

The Al Shaqab League is designed to provide a pathway for Qatar’s emerging riders to achieve excellence in equestrian sport. According to Khalid Sanad Al-Naimi, Event Director at Al Shaqab, the competition represents the organization’s commitment to empowering young riders and elevating the national equestrian scene.

The league serves as a unique platform that bridges local development with global ambition, offering riders of all levels the opportunity to compete, learn, and excel in a world-class environment. The competition is expected to attract talented riders from across the region, promoting the growth of equestrian sports in Qatar.

Nurturing Talent and Excellence

The Al Shaqab League is part of Al Shaqab’s broader mission to inspire, educate, and elevate the equestrian community. By providing a competitive platform for young riders, the league helps to identify and nurture talent, promoting excellence in the sport. The event is also an opportunity for riders to gain experience and exposure, potentially paving the way for future international competitions.

The competition will span four main rounds, with the first round continuing today and tomorrow. The subsequent rounds are scheduled for December 26 and 27, April 17 and 18, 2026, and May 21 and 23, 2026. Riders will have multiple opportunities to showcase their skills and compete against their peers.

Global Ambition and Local Development

The Al Shaqab League is not only a national competition but also a stepping stone for Qatari riders to participate in international equestrian events. By competing against top riders and horses, participants can gain valuable experience and insight into the global equestrian community.
