The National Bureau for Revenue (NBR) in Bahrain is dedicated to enhancing business compliance and ensuring adherence to all regulations regarding VAT and Excise, including the Digital Stamps Scheme. In July, the NBR conducted 183 inspection visits in local markets across different governorates to monitor the market, protect consumer rights, and combat tax evasion. These visits also aimed to raise awareness about the proper implementation of tax regulations.

As a result of the oversight conducted by the NBR, a total of 41 VAT violations were reported, leading to the imposition of administrative fines in accordance with the law. The violations included issues such as failure to comply with VAT invoice conditions, failure to display prices inclusive of VAT, failure to display a VAT certificate, and failure to issue a VAT invoice. Additionally, the NBR identified suspicious activities related to VAT or Excise evasion, with legal actions being taken against violators.

Businesses and consumers are encouraged to cooperate with the ongoing inspection campaigns to achieve high compliance standards. The NBR emphasizes the importance of reporting any violations or evasions of the VAT or Excise law by contacting the NBR call center or through the National Suggestions & Complaints System. This cooperation is crucial for the success of the NBR’s efforts to ensure proper implementation of tax regulations and combat tax evasion in the local market.

The NBR’s commitment to enhancing business compliance and ensuring adherence to tax regulations is evident through the various inspection visits and enforcement actions taken against violators. By imposing administrative fines and taking legal actions against those involved in tax evasion, the NBR aims to create a fair and transparent business environment in Bahrain. The cooperation of businesses and consumers is essential in achieving the highest compliance standards and combating tax evasion effectively.

In conclusion, the NBR’s continuous efforts to monitor the local market, protect consumer rights, and combat tax evasion demonstrate its commitment to enforcing tax regulations in Bahrain. By reporting violations or evasions of the VAT or Excise law, businesses and consumers can contribute to the success of the NBR’s inspection campaigns and help create a more compliant business environment. The NBR urges all concerned parties to cooperate and report any suspicious activities related to tax evasion to ensure the effective implementation of tax regulations in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
