Mubadala Energy, in partnership with Harbour Energy, has achieved two significant milestones in its Andaman exploration activities. The company has been awarded the Central Andaman license by the Indonesian oil and gas regulator, MIGAS, as part of the recent Indonesian licensing round. This acquisition strengthens Mubadala Energy’s growth strategy in the Andaman Sea, providing additional prospectivity in the basin. The company has also successfully completed the South Andaman drilling campaign, including the appraisal of the Layaran discovery, showcasing the multi-TCF potential of the Andaman Sea basin through advanced technology and deep-water capabilities.

Adnan Bu Fateem, the Chief Operating Officer of Mubadala Energy, expressed the importance of the Central Andaman block bidding, highlighting the opportunities it will unlock. With operational capabilities and a deep understanding of the basin, the company is well-positioned to realize the potential of South and Central Andaman. Abdulla Bu Ali, President Director of Indonesia at Mubadala Energy, emphasized the successful completion of the drilling campaign as a significant milestone for the company, supporting Indonesia’s energy transition and energy security priorities.

The multi-well campaign in South Andaman and Andaman II has allowed Mubadala Energy and its partners to confirm significant in-place discovered resources that could play a crucial role in the Indonesian and Southeast Asian energy landscape. The company is actively developing a strategy to bring these resources into production quickly. With the completion of the exploration and appraisal campaign, Mubadala Energy is ready to work with its partners and government stakeholders to further develop these projects and contribute to the energy sector in the region.

The successful drilling campaign in the Andaman Sea basin demonstrates Mubadala Energy’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and deep-water capabilities for efficient and safe operations. The company’s focus on operational excellence and strategic partnerships has enabled it to achieve milestones in exploration and resource development. By building on its expertise and understanding of the basin, Mubadala Energy aims to maximize the potential of South and Central Andaman while supporting Indonesia’s energy priorities.

As Mubadala Energy continues to expand its presence in the Andaman Sea basin, the company remains dedicated to contributing to Indonesia’s energy transition and energy security goals. The successful acquisition of the Central Andaman license and completion of the South Andaman drilling campaign are significant steps towards unlocking the region’s potential resources. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and collaboration, Mubadala Energy is poised to play a vital role in shaping the energy landscape in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
