Doha, Qatar – As the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 commences, the Ministry of Interior has released a comprehensive list of prohibited items for fans attending matches. The restrictions aim to ensure safety and security throughout the tournament, which began today with matches in Group A. Fans are urged to review the guidelines to avoid delays or confiscation of belongings at stadium entry points.

The tournament, running through December 18th, will be hosted across four key venues: Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, and Stadium 974, culminating in the final at Lusail Stadium. Today’s opening matches saw Tunisia face Syria and Qatar compete against Palestine. The Ministry’s announcement comes as preparations reach their final stages for the prestigious regional competition.

Understanding the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 Prohibited Items

According to the Ministry of Interior’s social media announcement, a range of items are banned from stadiums. These restrictions are standard practice for major sporting events and are designed to prevent disruptions and maintain a secure environment for all attendees. The list includes common items that could potentially pose a risk or cause inconvenience.

Specific Items Banned

The prohibited items encompass a variety of categories. Glassware of any kind is not permitted, alongside umbrellas, which could obstruct views. Pets are also excluded from the venues, as are perfume bottles, potentially due to safety concerns regarding flammable liquids.

Additionally, flags and banners exceeding dimensions of 2×1.5 meters are disallowed, likely to prevent obstruction of sightlines for other spectators. Mugs and cans are also on the list, presumably to encourage the use of approved food and beverage vendors within the stadiums.

Furthermore, the Ministry has banned items with technological capabilities that could be misused. This includes laser pointers, selfie sticks, and drones. Professional cameras are also prohibited, suggesting that only accredited media personnel will be permitted to use such equipment. Qatar’s previous hosting of the FIFA World Cup demonstrated a strong emphasis on security measures, and these regulations appear to build upon that experience.

The implementation of these rules is expected to be strict, with security personnel stationed at all entry points to enforce the restrictions. Fans are advised to cooperate fully with security staff to ensure a smooth entry process. The Ministry has not specified penalties for attempting to bring prohibited items into the stadiums, but confiscation is almost certain.

The Peninsula Qatar reports that the tournament is expected to draw significant international attention, showcasing Qatar’s capabilities as a host nation for major sporting events. This event serves as a crucial test run for future large-scale competitions, including potential bids for further FIFA events. The success of the security measures will be a key factor in assessing the overall organization of the Arab Cup.

Looking ahead, organizers will monitor the implementation of these security protocols throughout the tournament. Any adjustments to the prohibited items list or enforcement procedures will likely be communicated through official channels, including the Ministry of Interior’s social media accounts and the FIFA website. The effectiveness of these measures in maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience for fans remains to be seen, and will be a focal point for post-tournament analysis.
