In a move to boost local food production in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has announced the construction of a new food manufacturing plant. The agreement, signed in Riyadh, allocates a 117,000 square meter plot in Jeddah’s Third Industrial City for the facility. The project aims to establish an automated production line with modern technologies for packaging and filling materials, operated by highly skilled national personnel. It is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, with a targeted production capacity of 15,000 tons annually in the first phase.

The signing ceremony was attended by key officials including Bandar Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, and Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi, CEO of MODON. The plant will include a central warehouse, industrial services and facilities building, an advanced laboratory, and an administrative building. This initiative aligns with the National Industrial Strategy and seeks to enhance sustainable food security in Saudi Arabia. The project aims to meet local demand while also exporting products to other Middle Eastern and North African markets.

MODON is also focusing on developing food industry clusters in Jeddah’s Second and Third Industrial Cities to strengthen supply chains and boost exports. These clusters are designed to create a comprehensive and supportive ecosystem for the food sector in Saudi Arabia. By investing in modern technologies and skilled national personnel, MODON aims to enhance the local food industry and increase production capacity to meet the growing demand for food products in the region.
