India’s PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, launched in 2021, has seen significant advancements three years on, with the Indian government actively working to extend the framework beyond its borders. Collaborations with countries such as Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Senegal, and Gambia are being pursued to promote the use of geospatial technology in infrastructure development. This initiative aims to provide secure access to non-sensitive data for non-governmental users in developing nations, helping them streamline infrastructure building and adopt best practices from India.

The PM GatiShakti initiative has revolutionized India’s approach to infrastructure projects by integrating data from various ministries and states, resulting in a more efficient and transparent system. By employing GIS-based tools and real-time monitoring systems, the initiative has streamlined project execution, reduced logistics costs, and enhanced service delivery across the country. The platform now includes social sector ministries to address gaps in essential services such as healthcare and education, supporting India’s commitment to Net Zero emissions by 2070.

PM GatiShakti aims to incorporate emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into its planning processes, further enhancing infrastructure management in India. Aligned with the National Logistics Policy, the initiative has improved India’s logistics performance, reflected in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index Report. By sharing the Gati Shakti Masterplan with countries worldwide, India hopes to position itself as a key player in global infrastructure development, sharing best practices to benefit the developing world.

As India’s success with PM GatiShakti gains international attention, the country is emerging as a role model for emerging economies. The initiative symbolizes India’s commitment to modernizing its infrastructure landscape while ensuring sustainable development for future generations globally. By sharing its concept and technology with the world, India not only strengthens its own position as a leader in infrastructure development but also supports the aspirations of becoming a ‘Vishwaguru’ on the global stage. With continued international collaboration and a focus on technological integration, PM GatiShakti is set to shape the future of infrastructure development both in India and beyond.
