Aleksandar Mitrovic was the star of the show as Al Hilal secured a 3-0 victory over Esteghlal FC in their recent AFC Champions League Elite 2024/25 match. Mitrovic scored a hat-trick to lead his team to victory, keeping them at the top of the West zone table with 12 points. Esteghlal, on the other hand, suffered their third defeat of the league phase and remain on three points. The match started off with a close call for Esteghlal when Ramin Rezaein’s header hit the post, but Al Hilal quickly took control with Mitrovic scoring two goals in the first half.

Al Hilal’s dominance continued in the second half, with Mitrovic completing his hat-trick with a header in the 74th minute. Despite their efforts, Esteghlal could not find a way past Al Hilal’s defense and were unable to narrow the gap on the scoreboard. Al Hilal’s head coach, Jorge Jesus, also made a tactical substitution by bringing on Neymar, who is still working his way back from injury. The win puts Al Hilal in a strong position as they head into their next match against Al Sadd SC, where a victory could secure their spot in the knockout stage.

The victory over Esteghlal was a significant step towards Al Hilal’s progression in the AFC Champions League. With Mitrovic showcasing his goal-scoring prowess with a hat-trick, the team demonstrated their strength and determination on the field. The win not only solidified their position at the top of the table but also showcased their ability to control the game and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Al Hilal’s performance in this match has set the stage for an exciting journey in the tournament as they work towards their goal of reaching the knockout stage.

Mitrovic’s impressive performance in the match earned him the spotlight as he played a crucial role in Al Hilal’s victory. His ability to find the back of the net three times showcased his skill and precision in front of goal. The Serbian striker’s partnership with his teammates, including assists from players like Nasser Al Dawsari and Joao Cancelo, was key to the team’s success. Mitrovic’s hat-trick will undoubtedly boost his confidence and morale, setting him up for future success in the tournament and raising expectations for his performance in upcoming matches.

Esteghlal put up a valiant effort in the match but ultimately fell short against Al Hilal’s strong defense and attacking prowess. Despite creating some scoring opportunities, they were unable to convert them into goals and struggled to contain Al Hilal’s attacking threats. The defeat leaves Esteghlal in a challenging position as they look to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming matches. With half of the league phase now completed, Esteghlal will need to reassess their tactics and approach in order to improve their performance and secure valuable points in the remaining matches of the tournament.
