The Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Qatar Red Crescent, recently conducted a workshop for workers and employees of Huawei Technology Company in Doha. The workshop, titled ‘Towards a Sustainable Work Environment’, focused on raising awareness of heat stress risks and ways to prevent it. It also covered first aid techniques, occupational safety guidelines, and mental health guidelines. The workshop is part of the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to promote a safe and healthy work environment by educating workers and employers about the dangers of direct sunlight exposure and the importance of following safety guidelines in both workplaces and residential areas.

During the workshop, Huawei workers and safety supervisors were trained on how to prevent health risks caused by heat stress. This included creating air-conditioned rest areas, providing cool water, and identifying symptoms of heat stress for prompt action. The workshop also offered guidance on maintaining both occupational and mental health, as well as instructions on first aid techniques in case of emergency or injury at work or residential sites. By equipping workers with this knowledge, the Ministry of Labour hopes to enhance working conditions and promote sustainable work practices for employees.

The workshop emphasized the importance of creating a safe and healthy work environment for employees by raising awareness of heat stress risks and providing strategies to prevent them. By educating workers on the symptoms of heat stress and how to take prompt action, Huawei aims to protect its employees from potential health hazards. The workshop also focused on mental health, recognizing the importance of overall well-being in the workplace. By providing first aid training and guidance on both physical and mental health, the Ministry of Labour seeks to ensure that workers are equipped to handle emergencies and injuries effectively.

In addition to highlighting the importance of promoting a safe work environment, the workshop also stressed the significance of sustainable work practices. By encouraging employees to follow occupational safety guidelines and enhance working conditions, the Ministry of Labour aims to create a culture of safety and well-being in the workplace. By integrating these practices into daily work routines, companies like Huawei can ensure the long-term health and productivity of their employees. The workshop served as a valuable opportunity for workers and employers to learn about best practices for preventing heat stress and promoting overall well-being in the workplace.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Qatar Red Crescent underscores the importance of a coordinated approach to promoting workplace safety and health. By pooling resources and expertise, these organizations were able to deliver a comprehensive workshop that addressed a range of issues related to occupational safety, health, and well-being. By working together, they were able to provide valuable information and training to Huawei workers and safety supervisors, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to health risks in the workplace effectively.

Overall, the workshop on heat stress risks and occupational safety was a valuable initiative aimed at raising awareness and promoting a safe work environment for Huawei employees. By educating workers on how to prevent heat stress, recognize symptoms, and take prompt action, the workshop provided practical strategies for protecting employees’ health and well-being. The emphasis on mental health and first aid training further underscored the importance of holistic well-being in the workplace. Moving forward, initiatives like this workshop will continue to play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety, health, and well-being in the workplace.
