The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is currently organizing a five-day event in Salalah titled “Oman Bridges: Identity and Civilization.” The event is being held at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment, with the ministry being represented by the Department of Introduction to Islam and Cultural Exchange. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and will continue until October 10, 2024.

Sheikh Dr. Kahlan Nabhan Al Kharousi, Assistant Grand Mutfi of the Sultanate of Oman, gave a speech at the event, where he highlighted the key components that shape the Omani identity. These include religion, language, and the unique national characteristics of the Omani people. He also discussed how the Omani identity has played a crucial role in responding positively to various external influences throughout history.

One of the key features of the event is an exhibition that showcases various themes related to Omani society and culture. These include “Rights in Omani Society,” “Omani Values in Urban Jurisprudence,” “Values and ethics contributing to the spread of Islam by Omani merchants,” and “Omanis as Messengers of Peace.” The exhibition aims to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage and values of the Omani people.

The event is a testament to Oman’s commitment to promoting its unique identity and heritage on a global platform. By highlighting the values and traditions that have shaped Omani society over the ages, the event serves as a platform for fostering cultural exchange and understanding. It also emphasizes the role of Omanis as ambassadors of peace and tolerance in the region and beyond.

With the presence of esteemed dignitaries and scholars, the event in Salalah serves as an important platform for intellectual discourse and dialogue on various aspects of Omani culture and identity. The participation of government officials and religious leaders underlines the significance of promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding in the region.

Overall, the “Oman Bridges: Identity and Civilization” event in Salalah is a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Oman. Through various exhibitions and speeches, attendees can gain a deeper appreciation of the values and heritage that define the Omani identity. The event also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting cultural diversity and understanding in today’s globalized world.
