The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar recently organized the ‘Teach Me’ festival at Katara Cultural Village in Doha. The festival aimed to integrate students with disabilities with regular students in schools, developing their educational and physical skills and helping them to become active members of society. A total of 260 students from seven model and primary schools for boys and girls participated in the festival, showcasing their talents and skills.

Salman Al-Hazmi, Head of the Physical Education Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting students with disabilities. He highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for these students to participate in all activities and events, ensuring their inclusion in society as active members. The festival included various presentations and sports demonstrations by different schools, showcasing the diverse talents of the students.

The one-day festival featured presentations by schools such as Hajar Elementary School for Girls, Khalifa Model School for Boys, and Um Hani Elementary School for Girls. Each school showcased its unique talents and skills, highlighting the country’s wealth, pride, and nostalgia. Students from Mesaieed Mixed School also presented displays symbolizing their love for the homeland and their sense of belonging to Qatar.

The ‘Teach Me’ Festival for People with Disabilities was established in 2022 as a project aimed at providing theoretical and practical programs for students with disabilities. The festival includes educational workshops and training sessions for teachers to better support students with disabilities. The festival is set to continue for three years, with the goal of creating a more inclusive and supportive educational environment for students with disabilities in Qatar.

Overall, the ‘Teach Me’ festival in Doha was a successful event that brought together students with disabilities and regular students to showcase their talents and skills. The festival highlighted the importance of inclusion and integration of students with disabilities into society, emphasizing the role of education in supporting their development and growth. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, initiatives like the ‘Teach Me’ festival are essential in creating a more inclusive and supportive educational environment for all students in Qatar.
