Humanitarian work in Qatar is celebrated as a sustainable legacy, according to Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. During a recent event organized by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) in collaboration with the Workers Support and Insurance Fund to mark the International Day of Charity, HE Al Misnad emphasized the importance of encouraging involvement in charitable work and preserving the value of giving. Representatives from diplomatic missions, community leaders, and individuals from various charity, humanitarian, and development sectors attended the event, which showcased the efforts of the Qatari charity sector and RACA’s role in supporting, encouraging, and protecting charitable work.

Director-General of RACA Ibrahim Abdullah Al Duhaimi commended the efforts of workers in the charity and humanitarian sectors in Qatar, attributing the qualitative development of these sectors to the continuous work of various institutions in the country. He highlighted how these institutions have elevated the standards of charitable work from regulatory and legislative perspectives, creating a favorable environment for humanitarian efforts. Executive Director of the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund Kholoud Saif Al Kubaisi praised the national partnership between RACA and the Fund, emphasizing the unwavering support that charity and humanitarian work receive in Qatar from the country’s leadership.

Director of Licensing and Support at RACA Rashid Al Naimi emphasized the significance of celebrating the International Day of Charity as a way to recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of workers in the charity and humanitarian sectors in Qatar. Meanwhile, HE Secretary-General of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Sultan Hassan Al Jamali underscored the impact of charity work in alleviating humanitarian crises and improving public services, such as housing, education, and child protection. He highlighted the global challenge of eradicating poverty for sustainable development and noted Qatar’s heritage of aiding the distressed and supporting those in need.

NHRC Secretary-General Sultan Hassan Al Jamali also highlighted efforts to create a supportive regional and international environment for charitable work, including developing international standards related to charity and advocating for vulnerable groups’ rights to food, shelter, health, and other basic needs. He referenced the outcomes of the International Conference on Food Justice from a Human Rights Perspective, organized by NHRC in February, which saw significant participation from the international and regional communities. Director of the Local Development and Volunteering Sector at QRCS Hussein Aman Al Ali provided a historical overview of Qatari charitable efforts, particularly those of QRCS, emphasizing the humanitarian principles, ethics, and noble behaviors that guide charitable work in the country.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the future of Qatari charitable work, with the Workers Support and Insurance Fund honoring key contributors in the charity and humanitarian sectors, including RACA, NHRC, QRCS, and Qatar Charity. Overall, the celebration of the International Day of Charity in Qatar served as a platform to recognize and appreciate the dedicated efforts of those involved in humanitarian work, while highlighting the country’s commitment to supporting and promoting charitable initiatives both domestically and internationally.
