Government ministers and key leaders recently gathered at Qatar National Library for a Read to Lead event. The initiative, developed by Qatar Reads, aims to unite leaders passionate about driving change through reading. The event brought together 45 VIPs from across Qatar, including Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. The participants engaged in discussions on the importance of social upbringing in shaping the behavior of children, based on the book “The Role of Social Upbringing in Shaping the Proper Behavior of Children” by Mahra Al Qasimi.

The Minister of Social Development and Family highlighted the significance of understanding social upbringing in shaping the future of children and society. She emphasized the role of the family as the cornerstone and the child’s first teacher. The Minister expressed her delight in sharing ideas and insights with esteemed leaders in a collaborative environment, stating that it is crucial to support efforts that lay the foundation for a brighter future. She also mentioned the Ministry’s strategies based on a scientific approach and well-planned initiatives to support social development.

Minister of State and QNL President Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari emphasized the importance of cooperation and partnership between the Library and various ministries in promoting a culture of reading. He stated that reading is a primary source of knowledge for leaders and decision-makers, highlighting its role in building communities through insightful thinking. The Read to Lead sessions organized by Qatar Reads aim to foster intellectual growth and anticipate the future through informed debate and reading.

Project Manager of Qatar Reads, Fatema Al Malki, described the event as a testament to Qatar National Library’s contribution to the personal development of the country’s future leaders. She emphasized the power of reading in fostering intellectual growth and setting an example for Qatar’s youth in their personal development journey. The interactive session highlighted the importance of reading and informed debate in shaping leaders and building a knowledgeable society.
