The men’s team defeated England 6-5 in a thrilling final, while the women’s team triumphed over Romania with a score of 5-2. The players were filled with joy and pride as they celebrated their victories on the field. Lithuania took third place in the men’s event, while Poland secured the bronze medal in the women’s competition. This year’s tournament marked the first time the event was held in Asia since its inception in 2003.

The Homeless World Cup aims to use football as a means to transform the lives of participants for the better. The event has inspired a heartwarming documentary featuring Bill Nighy and a Korean movie titled “Dream” scheduled for release in 2023. With 52 teams from 38 countries participating in this year’s tournament, the Homeless World Cup has become a global platform to promote inclusivity and inspire positive change. The partnership between FIFA and the Homeless World Cup Foundation has further enhanced the visibility and impact of the event.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino expressed his excitement about collaborating with the Homeless World Cup Foundation and acknowledged the positive impact of football as a force for good. In addition to providing trophies and medals, FIFA streamed the tournament live on the FIFA+ platform, allowing fans from around the world to witness the inspiring performances of the players. The matches, consisting of two halves of seven minutes each, offered an exciting and fast-paced display of talent and determination.

The success of Mexico in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the Homeless World Cup demonstrates the power of sport to unite individuals from diverse backgrounds and provide opportunities for personal growth and empowerment. The event not only showcases the athletic abilities of the participants but also highlights their resilience and determination to overcome challenges. Through the support of organizations like FIFA and the Homeless World Cup Foundation, the tournament continues to foster a sense of community and belonging among homeless individuals worldwide.

As the Homeless World Cup continues to expand its reach and impact, the collaboration with FIFA has opened up new possibilities for greater awareness and support. By leveraging the universal appeal of football, the event serves as a platform for social inclusion and empowerment, giving marginalized individuals a chance to shine on the global stage. The dedication and passion of the players, coupled with the spirit of unity and sportsmanship, exemplify the transformative power of sport in building a more inclusive and compassionate society.

In conclusion, the Homeless World Cup in Seoul was a celebration of the human spirit and the power of football to inspire change and bring people together. Mexico’s remarkable success in both the men’s and women’s categories underscored the talent and determination of the players, while also highlighting the importance of teamwork and solidarity.
