Introducing a 10-year-old Emirati girl named Mahra Hamad Al Naqbi who embarked on a journey into the world of beekeeping during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting as a pastime to fill her time, Mahra now owns and operates 20 beehives that produce various types of honey, including Sidr, Mangrove, and Samr. Her dedication and passion have allowed her beekeeping project to flourish, where she handles all aspects of bee care, hive management, and honey harvesting.

Throughout her beekeeping experience, Mahra has gained valuable skills such as responsibility, observation, and patience. She has also debunked common misconceptions, such as the purity of crystallized honey. Recently, Mahra participated in the 16th International Honey Festival in Saudi Arabia, where she was the youngest participant. She continues to educate her community on beekeeping and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the vital role bees play in pollinating plants.

Mahra’s aspirations extend beyond beekeeping as a hobby; she envisions a future as a bee scientist. With plans to expand her farm with diverse flora for bee nourishment, she aims to open a shop specializing in bee products like honey, candles, and creams. Reflecting on her journey, Mahra encourages others to pursue their passions seriously, while also emphasizing the importance of balance between interests and school responsibilities. She takes pride in the Emirati culture’s value for bees and is committed to sharing her passion with others in the community.

Beekeeping has emerged as a significant part of Mahra’s life, guiding her towards her ultimate goal of becoming a bee scientist. Her dedication to caring for her bees, educating her peers, and promoting environmental sustainability reflects her deep-rooted passion for the cause. Through workshops and community engagement, Mahra continues to spread awareness about the importance of bees in enhancing environmental sustainability and contributing to the rich Emirati culture that values honey production.

As Mahra navigates her journey in beekeeping, she is setting an inspiring example for young individuals to pursue their hobbies and aspirations with dedication and purpose. Her story resonates with the importance of nurturing one’s interests while staying organized and maintaining a balance with other responsibilities. Mahra’s commitment to beekeeping not only highlights her personal growth but also underscores the vital role bees play in our ecosystem and the cultural significance they hold in the UAE.
