McLaren Team emerges victorious in first season’s Lincoln DG Pro-Am race

Three amateurs, Afzaal Ahmad, Parvez Ahmed, and Arbaaz Ahmad, stood out as stars with their impressive performance at the Emirates Golf Club, scoring a remarkable 89 points. Led by professional Sam Mclaren, the team secured victory at the Lincoln DG Pro-Am held on the prestigious Majlis Course. The event featured 23 teams, each with an Emirates PGA professional and three amateur players. Amateurs were given an 85% handicap allowance, while the professionals competed off scratch, making it a competitive and exciting event for all participants.

Team Mclaren’s incredible score of 89 points, equivalent to a net 127, set a high standard for the Pro-Am series. The team, consisting of Afzaal Ahmad (handicap 7), Parvez Ahmed (23), and Arbaaz Ahmad (17), showcased exceptional teamwork and skill on the course. Their consistent play and impressive scores on each hole, including a net birdie and net eagle on Hole 16, led them to victory with a two-point margin over the runners-up. Sam Mclaren praised his team for their stellar performance, especially highlighting Afzaal’s prowess on the course.

In the Pro Division, a four-way tie among Stuart Smith, Matt Rice, Matthew Hodgkiss, and Jordan Gallagher saw them shooting level-par 72, resulting in a shared prize fund and trophy. The highlight of the day came from 20-year-old EGC member Arman Singh, who scored an ace at the 15th hole with a perfect seven-iron. This impressive shot added to the excitement and skill displayed throughout the event. The next Lincoln Pro-Am, in collaboration with the Emirates PGA, is scheduled to be held at Yas Links Abu Dhabi, continuing the series of competitive tournaments.

Overall, the Lincoln DG Pro-Am at Emirates Golf Club was a thrilling and successful event, showcasing the talents of both amateur and professional golfers. Team Mclaren’s outstanding performance and victory set a high standard for the season’s Pro-Am series, with participants demonstrating skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship on the course. The event saw impressive scores, exciting ties in the Pro Division, and memorable moments like Arman Singh’s hole-in-one, adding to the overall excitement and competitiveness of the tournament. With future events lined up in the Pro-Am series, golf enthusiasts can look forward to more exciting competitions and displays of talent in the sport.
