Minister of Communications and Information Technology H E Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai recently met with the first batch of employees selected for the Overseas Internship Program at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). The program aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and expertise to become leaders in their fields and enhance their digital competencies. The selected employees will undergo a three-month training visit to Google’s headquarters, where they will engage in educational and practical activities, discover the latest innovations and technologies, exchange ideas with experts, and acquire practical skills in building and developing technological solutions and artificial intelligence.

The Overseas Internship Program is part of the MCIT’s efforts to develop the skills of the workforce, enhance their competencies, and lead the digital transformation in Qatar. The program is in line with the Third National Development Strategy and the Digital Agenda 2030, with a focus on significant growth in the technology sector. The goal is for participants to leverage this experience and transfer the knowledge gained to their workplaces in Qatar, contributing to the overall advancement of the country in the digital realm.

During the meeting with the first batch of employees, Minister Al Mannai emphasized the importance of their role in leveraging the Overseas Internship Program experience. He encouraged them to make the most of this opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge, and to bring back valuable insights and expertise that will benefit the technology sector in Qatar. By engaging in educational activities and practical projects at Google’s headquarters, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

The program includes a variety of activities at Google’s headquarters, such as participating in projects within the Google Cloud and Advanced Solutions Lab programs. This hands-on experience will enable participants to acquire practical skills in building and developing technological solutions and artificial intelligence, which will be valuable assets in their roles at the MCIT and in other government entities in Qatar. By collaborating with experts and exchanging ideas, participants will also broaden their understanding of the latest innovations and technologies in the industry.

The launch of the Overseas Internship Program last May was a significant milestone for the MCIT and the development of the technology sector in Qatar. The program offers Qatari employees the opportunity to enhance their skills and competencies, ultimately contributing to the digital transformation of the country. With a focus on developing the workforce and preparing them to lead in their fields, the program aligns with the goals of the Third National Development Strategy and the Digital Agenda 2030. By investing in the professional development of employees, the MCIT aims to drive growth and innovation in the technology sector and position Qatar as a leader in digital transformation.

In conclusion, the Overseas Internship Program at the MCIT is a valuable opportunity for Qatari employees to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expertise in the technology sector. By participating in training visits to Google’s headquarters, employees will gain practical experience, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and collaboration opportunities with experts. The program aims to develop the workforce and enhance their competencies to lead the digital transformation in Qatar, aligning with the country’s strategic goals for growth and innovation. Through programs like the Overseas Internship Program, the MCIT is investing in the future of the technology sector in Qatar and positioning the country as a leader in digital innovation.
