Mared Al Jasra wins the Al Beshariyah Cup as the racing season kicks off in style

The Al Beshariyah Cup at Al Rayyan Racecourse saw Mared Al Jasra, guided by jockey Alberto Sanna, clinch victory in the season-opening feature for Purebred Arabian Premium Maiden (Class 6). The four-year-old surged ahead in the final 400 meters to claim the title, leaving Nafjah and Zidane behind. Trainer Jassim Ghazali celebrated the win as Nafjah took second place, and Zidane finished third in the exciting race.

Trainer Hamad Al Jehani had a successful day at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) season-opening meet, securing four victories. Local Law, ridden by Szczepan Mazur, won the Thoroughbred Handicap 80-105 (Class 2), completing the quartet of titles for Al Jehani. Jockey Arnaud De Lepine also contributed to the wins by guiding Shaweesh to victory in the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap 60-80 (Class 4).

The day saw a total of eight races with exciting wins by horses like John Steed and Texas Storm CS under Al Jehani’s training. Saadi guided Akmar to victory in the Purebred Arabian Handicap 65-85 (Class 4), while Sanna rode Sydney Mews to success in the Thoroughbred Novice Plate (Filles & Mares) (Class 5). The first race of the day was won by Estoori, ridden by Muanis Al Siyabi, setting the tone for an action-packed season.

The Sealine Cup meeting at Al Uqda Racecourse promises five exciting races, including the feature for Thoroughbred Conditions (Class 2) offering the Sealine Cup. The 2024-25 season will feature a total of 69 race meetings, with 47 at Al Rayyan Racecourse and 22 at Al Uqda Racecourse. The season is off to a thrilling start with impressive performances from both horses and jockeys, setting the stage for an exciting season of horse racing in Qatar.

The winners of the Al Beshariyah Cup and other races at the Al Rayyan Racecourse showcased the talent and skill of both horses and trainers. With jockeys like Alberto Sanna and Arnaud De Lepine guiding their horses to victory, the season promises more thrilling moments on the track. Trainer Jassim Ghazali’s victory with Mared Al Jasra in the Al Beshariyah Cup was a stellar start to the season for owners Al Ghazali Stud, setting the tone for a successful season ahead.

The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s season-opening meet was filled with excitement and impressive performances from both horses and jockeys. Trainer Hamad Al Jehani’s four victories and the success of other trainers and jockeys demonstrate the high level of competition and talent in the racing industry. As the season progresses, fans can look forward to more thrilling races and close finishes as the best horses in Qatar compete for top honors on the track.
